Mr. Whelen is responsible for sales in New England, Long Island, Tri-State named accounts, Asia, the Middle East and the Caribbean.
Mr. Whelen joined PFM in June 2009 with ten years of sales experience, in both institutional equity research and alternative investments. Mr. Whelen began his career with Lehman Brothers as part of the Institutional Trading Group on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. He later joined Deutsche Bank Securities where he spent four years on the Institutional Equity Research Sales desk before serving in a similar capacity as a Vice President on the New York equity sales desk at W.R. Hambrecht + Co, a San Francisco-based boutique investment bank. Most recently, Mr. Whelen was responsible for raising institutional capital for Whitecap Advisors LLC, an asset-based/direct lending firm in Norwalk, CT. Mr. Whelen graduated from Dartmouth College in 1998 with a B.A. in History. In the fall of 1996, he also studied at the Université Lumière II in Lyon, France, as part of a language study-abroad program. Mr. Whelen currently resides in Darien, CT with his girlfriend and their golden retriever, Samson. Mr. Whelen holds Series 7 and Series 63 securities licenses.
